When you book a 20 minute mini family session you’ll be sure to enjoy a short & fun family photoshoot! You might think that not many poses can be achieved in only 20 minutes but by reading this blog, you’ll be extra prepared to make the most of the outdoor family photoshoots Cheshire!
The main thing to remember is that these poses are a guide and of course the age of your family members determines what your version of the poses turns out like! The children in your family might be a little shy and prefer the cuddles or a gentle walk or your might have a confident discoverer who loves running and jumping! We embrace this and I always love seeing how different personalities respond to each pose!
10 Perfect Poses – Outdoor Family Photoshoots Cheshire
- THE CUDDLE
This is the perfect pose to begin the shoot with as your little one gets to know me and the sound of my camera’s shutter. They’ll be reassured by your smiles and tickles and will soon forget that I’m there and smile back at you both with such cuteness!
2. THE WALK
Another great pose to start with as it gets you all moving and you’ll soon realise there is nothing to worry about and our shoot is all about fun and giggles! The result is so natural and happy! I love this pose!
3. THE ALL LOOK AT MUMMY POSE!
Perfect for teens who might be feeling a little self conscious as they aren’t having to look straight at the camera! Instead they are looking and laughing with their sibling which I just love!
4. THE GENTLE SHOULDER BARGE POSE!
Fab for teens who are feeling at ease and enjoying the fun! They get the perfect excuse to gently shoulder barge their sibling which results in the most natural and joyful expressions!
5. THE THROW!
Just before you let those little feet touch the ground, try a launch them into the air and enjoy the squeals and happiness! This gives your little one a chance to laugh whilst you and mum catch a smile at me. It’s such a cute one and gets you all laughing! The best right!
6. THE RUN!
Getting a chance to run from one parent from to another helps them feel secure but also free to express themselves whilst exploring their environment! They might pause for a moment to check all is ok and I’ll make the most of these slower moments by getting closer to them or using my zoom lens to capture their wonderful features. Not to worry if they don’t want to stop, why would they when they are in a huge park after being in lockdown for a long time!
7. THE SWING & SMILE POSE!
Brace yourself to repeat this one a few times but it’s so worth it! It helps get lots of smile and giggles again and gives you chance to crouch down next to them for a smile at me as it starts to feel like a reward!
8. THE CHASE
It’s wonderful to see families free and in the moment! Take 5 mins to run for the sake of it! Can you remember those freeing times as a kid where you had all the attention from your Mum and Dad! Well I take advantage of that! Bare in mind that they might be having a day where they might not feel like running which is totally ok and so we can do more cuddles and kisses!
9. THE CATCH!
When you catch your little adventurer, smile at them or kiss them so we get a lovely shot of them smiling but you’re also engaged in the image too! You might find that you’re always behind the camera so this is a great opportunity for you be on the photo too!
10. THE SIT DOWN POSE
Towards the end of the shoot, we will try and have a sit down on a bench or some steps and a nice cuddle and a combination of looking at the camera but also at each other.

We’ve just done a family shoot with Sarah and the photos are incredible! Gorgeous photos of my son, candid snaps of us all playing, as well as perfect family portraits. Sarah quickly made my son feel relaxed and sussed out how to get the perfect snaps of a very active little boy. We received so many photos from the shoot and couldn’t decide so had to buy them all!
