SARAH SAYS:

Getting to shoot a London wedding was such a change from the rural landscape that I’m familiar with! It just goes to show how far my style of Natural London Wedding Photography can travel! No matter where you’re getting married, I love getting to capture the love shared between a couple and the reactions of their friends and family! It’s always so heart-warming!

STUNNING VENUE Banking Hall

Let’s hear all about the special day from Feyza and Kerim themselves!

OUR SARAH BROOKES PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE & WHAT WE LOVED ABOUT HER NATURAL LONDON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY APPROACH!

Having our photo taken just made the day so special. Sarah was so easy and comfortable to be around and made us feel completely at ease. I felt like a celebrity! I especially loved taking the pictures in the middle of my road, it was so fun! I love looking back at the photos, Sarah captured such great moments which all put a big smile on my face

A WESTMNSTER PROPOSAL

Feyza says! Kerim proposed at University of Westminster, where we met. He told me he was giving a speech at an alumni event and that he wanted me to watch him. I actually told him I couldn’t be bothered to go so to convince me he said he’d take me out for dinner after, I then agreed lol. Our campus was on Regent Street so I thought since I’m near Oxford Street I would quickly pop into Zara, obviously very unaware that he was nervously waiting for me. I eventually arrived and made my way to the hall, and as I opened the door there was Kerim standing there looking gorgeous surrounded by fairy lights- because he knows how much I love them- I burst in to tears and he got down on one knee and proposed! It was perfect!

WEDDING SETTING

We got married Saturday 6th April 2019. We both work in schools and that was the weekend before the Easter Half Term so it seemed perfect for us. We would 100% recommend our venue. They were outstanding, literally could not find any fault. Communication was efficient, the staff on the night were so fantastic and just couldn’t do enough for us. They even joined in taking pictures in the photobooth! Just a real professional but fun team.

THEME – Natural London Wedding Photography

We loved the London City style. We both love London, it’s our home and a few years prior to our wedding we had attended a wedding in the central London and loved it!

We didn’t have a colour theme as both venues had so much character that we didn’t want to take away from that. The only thing I did insist on was having plants instead of flowers. I love greenery and I especially love that I got to take them home and literally filled our flat with memories. Our guests loved taking them away too!

THE DRESS

I wanted a very simple dress, I just had a bit of detail. The dress was by Pronovias. I actually chose it because I loved the back, it has that beautiful V shape which I love. My wedding shoes were from Dune. They were actually so comfortable, even with all the dancing I did. I really wanted a nude closed-toe and just loved them as soon as I saw them.

GROOMSMEN

Kerim’s suit was from Skopes and his shoes from Barker. We didn’t have groomsmen but instead asked his close friends and brothers to wear navy like him so they could look similar.

BRIDESMAIDS

I didn’t have bridesmaids as such. I just wanted my ladies to wear what they wanted and to feel comfortable. But without realising my sisters and best friends all went for reds and blues.

BEAUTY

My very talented eldest sister did our make up for us. She made me feel so beautiful. I got my hair done at Vogue in Southgate. They were brilliant and made me feel very special.

SARAH’S FAVE BIT OF THIS NATURAL LONDON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE!

The happy couple and I enjoyed a stroll around Bank as their guests settled into Banking Hall and began tucking into their reception drinks and canapes. It’s often nice for the couple to take some time for themselves after their exchanging of vows! They can chat about their exciting morning and their pre-ceremony nerves whilst I run ahead of them and capture the gorgeous happiness on their faces! Feyza & Kerim are history buffs so I loved learning all about how Bank was built! What an amazing past this area of London has! But for now, let’s see more images of their Natural London Wedding Photography style wedding!

TRANSPORT

We got a very comfortable cab to Hackney Town Hall and then we hired a vintage double-decker bus to take everyone to Banking Hall. We hired from Red Routemaster. They were great, we were really happy with it.

STYLING

We had a small family run company called Events by Ivy do our decorations. They are brilliant, they completely got my vision and loved their attention to detail. One of my sisters came across them on Instagram and we just loved what we saw. I highly recommend them!

FLOWERS

Another one of my sisters made my bouquet for me. She has no experience just love flowers so asked if she could and I loved the idea. She went to Columbia Road Flower Market to choose the flowers. I let her choose whatever she wanted, I trusted her completely.

FAVOURS

We had a photobooth called   so our guests got to take away pictures of themselves. We also gave each guest an almond biscuit called Bastic which is traditionally given out at Turkish celebrations.

CAKE

My aunt makes the most delicious cakes! she made us a lemon drizzle and vanilla cake. It was perfect.

CATERING

The food was really important to us and made sure we had a quality menu. We had a Turkish inspire ravioli starter. Beef for main and for dessert a chocolate souffle with blood orange sorbet. It was all so delicious, we got really great feedback from our guests too. The chef did an amazing job. We had loads of wine and cocktails. The favourite was the Long London Ice Tea. it hit the spot!

ENTERTAINMENT

We had a band called All Town Music. They were phenomenal! They had everyone dancing all night long!

We had a fantastic musician called Thom who played us down the aisel, on the bus to Banking Hall and during our drinks reception. Just him and his guitar. We loved him!

THANKS TO

We had the ‘Davul Zurna’ or drum and flute which is a traditional part of a wedding entrance. It’s my favourite part of a Turkish wedding.

OUR BEST BIT

I loved getting ready. Everyone was in such a good mood, everything ran so smoothly and it put me in such a calm state of mind. Seeing Kerim’s face when I walked down the aisle was pretty special too. He got quite emotional which I wasn’t expecting.

Dancing on the dancefloor with my sisters and friends, pure happiness! And of course becoming husband and wife after 9 years together.

HONEYMOON

We went on a mini moon to south of France a few days after the wedding. Then that summer we went to Zambia. Both were fantastic but Zambia was just a dream come true. 10 minutes in to our cab journey to our hotel we saw a herd of elephants cross the road in front of us. I can’t explain how it made us feel, it was truly incredible. We stayed at the Royal Livingston, pure luxury! We had zebra, monkeys and giraffes roaming about freely, we saw lions and rhinos. Absolute dream!

ADVICE

To enjoy the planning process as well as the main event. It’s all part of the memories. We went to the Wedding Show at the ExCel Centre which was very helpful if you need inspiration. It’s where we found you and All Town Music so worth a visit.
